The acupressure system targets acupressure points throughout the body (also called potent points), which are places on the skin that are sensitive to bioelectrical impulses in the body. In treatment, these points are stimulated with pressure, needles, or heat to trigger the release of endorphins, which are the neurochemicals that relieve pain. The end result being that pain is blocked and healing is brought about by the increase flow of blood and oxygen to the affected area in the body, which causes the muscles to relax and promotes healing.
